BT’s Network Level Filtering Service
BT has revealed that it is upgrading its network level filtering service to enable parents to keep children safe online. In a statement by BT’s Managing Director of Consumer, Commercial, Marketing and Digital, Pete Oliver said “BT takes the issue of online child protection extremely seriously and we are very pleased to be able to launch a whole home filter to help parents keep their families safe online”. Free parental controls have been available from the company for several years but these have been limited to desktops and laptops. The ungraded service expands the type of devices that the service will be available to desktops, laptops, smartphones, games consoles and tablets. BT have trailed the service with numerous customers with and other interested parties such as Mumsnet which took part in the development. The service is to be named BT Parental Controls and will be free to all BT account holders. The company will be contacting its customers during this year to offer the service to them.
