SPOTLIGHT ON A CAP BUSINESS CLUB MEMBER
|
Featuring Wendy Guilfoyle from The Sanctuary
YOUR NAME? - Wendy Guilfoyle NAME OF YOUR BUSINESS? - Health Resolutions, Serenity Creations (books) WEBSITE ADDRESS? – www.healthresolutions.co.uk WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS? – Biology Teacher to GCE’s, O-level and A-level (back in the 70’s), Housewife, gardener and garden designer, followed my husband to Hong Kong, Singapore and Louisiana. WHAT MADE YOU START YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS? - Observing over time, at one end of the scale, the number of people who weren’t well, but not ill enough to go to the Doctor and be diagnosed with a named condition and treated. They were rather left on their own. At the other end of the scale there were those who had been to the Doctor, had the treatment, but were left with side effects, anxiety or residual pain and they were left to their own devices as well. By serendipity I discovered Gentle Touch Reflexology which is good to give and very pleasant to receive and is effective. The rest followed on from there. The Allergy testing came about when I realised my son and myself had multiple food sensitivities. Adjusting our diet accordingly made such a difference to our lives, I thought others would benefit from similar insights – which has been proved to be true. The Touch for Health followed on as sensitivities really disrupt one’s energies and compromise one’s sense of well-being. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? – Gardening, playing the piano, reading, crochet, embroidery when I have time, music, writing, walking in the Forest. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE? - I am not one for movies. The ones I do like are light hearted and have satisfactory endings – like Sleepless in Seattle – but I watch movies rarely. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL? – Salmon and lots of vegetables, closely followed by Thai green curry WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE UK HOLIDAY DESTINATION? – There are two -West Wales and the Dorset coast. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION ABROAD? – Our daughter lived in Palm Cove near Cairns, Queensland, Australia. It is beautiful, in spite of the crocodiles, jelly fish, snakes, spiders... The family are no longer there, so now I would like to visit the South of France to the Camargue to see the white horses. Vienna and Barcelona are on the wish list as well. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TV PROGRAMME? – The Repair Shop, Countryfile, Portillo’s Railway journeys. YOUR FAVOURITE SONG? – Oh! Difficult. Lots of good ones; Rhythm and Blues from the 70.s; Ed Shearer’s recent one and another by a fairly new singer, I think it is James Bay, with a song “I wasn’t expecting that”. I love classical music – Mozart “Clarinet Concerto’, Howard Goodall “Shackleton’s Cross” and a guitar piece “Birds flew over the Steeple” – lovely! WHAT DO YOU MOST ENJOY ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS? – Seeing people recover their inner equilibrium, feel so much better, grow as a person and “bloom” like a crocus in warm spring sunshine. People arrive looking ‘turned down at the edges.’ When they leave, they look ‘turned up’, smiling. Some have arrived very low and sad, but find something to laugh at as they leave. That has to be good for quality of life, I think. My writing provides an avenue to express my vivid imagination and reveal to others the magic and beauty that is all around us if we but look. IF YOU HAD A MAGIC WAND, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS? It’s very “magical” already! For the Reflexology, probably an eloquence to help others really understand how the modality can truly help them, whatever their situation or problem. “Something to with feet” doesn’t even begin to explain the benefits that can accrue from deep relaxation and massage on the reflex points of all major organs, joints and spine. I would like another wave of the wand to spread the news about my books – The Dragon Tree, The Stone Mirror and a romantic novel, “A Camel called Sweetpea”. Still offering Reflexology and nutritional advice, attending courses, continuing with my development, and what I offer to others, with enough time and finances to also develop my writing - and have the occasional holiday! DO YOU HAVE ANY USEFUL TIPS OR IDEAS THAT YOU COULD SHARE WITH THE OTHER CAP MEMBERS? – Avoid making snap judgements about people. They are never what they seem. Take your time. You may find a hidden diamond beneath an unlikely exterior. Everyone has their pain and their struggles; everyone has their joy and their beauty. Have confidence in yourself and your chosen business. Our futures are ours to create, regardless of what newspapers and TV news tell us. HOW HAS CAP BUSINESS CLUBS HELPED YOU IN YOUR BUSINESS? – It has helped in building confidence in being part of a “business world” and talking with people I don’t know very well. I have learned tips from other members and it is good fun. CAP is so different for other networking clubs. There is such a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. ‘Collaborate and Prosper’ sums it up well. Paul works constantly to ensure all members benefit from their membership. He is always willing to share his wealth of experience from many years running a variety of businesses. |

Wendy's warmth and wisdom do me the world of good! - Sue Hollingshead "I went to see Wendy for an allergy testing session. She was very thorough and took my medical history and proceeded to test me for many items. She identified which foods to avoid and Wendy also recommended an alternative treatment for certain symptoms. She has a very calming presence and is very easy to talk to. J-A A Reflexology by Wendy is such a wonderful experience. Firstly, what a lovely venue... the Sanctuary is set in a quite picturesque location, the treatment room is relaxing and feels calm and comfortable. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but Wendy completely relaxed me and the reflexology was just fabulous. You know when you are in the hands of an expert, and I even drifted off for a short while! If you need to take some of the stress out of your life, reflexology with Wendy is the way to go. I would highly recommend without hesitation. - Paul J (Note: the venue has since changed but the clinic is still relaxing and feels calm, quiet and comfortable) Wendy is a very experienced Practitioner. She can help with many health issues that a GP has neither the time nor the training to deal with. Lucie I get a great sense of well-being and relaxation when I receive Reflexology treatment from Wendy. Rachel |
