I have worked for 14 years in the NHS as a Medical Secretary working in various departments so have a lot of experience in the health industry and services. In 2018 I decided to continue working with the NHS but on the Bank so that I could fit my working hours around my two young children as I had not long after had my second child. During that year I became a Younique presenter promoting makeup and skincare whilst supporting a charity who helped women who had been sexually abused in childhood and adolescence. I joined this company mainly because of the work they were doing and the support they were offering for these women but also for the confidence building entity it offered to all it’s Presenters in the form of personal development and training. Having done that for 3 years and then the enforcement of Lockdown in March 2020 my interest and love for fitness emerged again. I had been introduced to the 1:1 diet as a customer prior to lockdown and successful managed to lose the baby weight and thoroughly enjoyed the plan and the products. It was the combination of the new weight loss and my interest for health and fitness being reignited that I realised that this was where my true purpose felt more comfortable and where I felt a strong passion for and I love it. Throughout my journey I have worked a lot on my own mental health and fitness and trying to improve and strengthen myself both inside and out and that is when I decided to become a fitness coach and so in 2022 I became a Level 2 Fitness Coach and an accredited Mental Health & Exercise Coach so I can support those who find challenges with their own mental health and help them feel more confident and resilient in themselves. WHAT MADE YOU START YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS? - I became a Mental Health & Exercise Coach so that I could support people with not only falling in love with movement again but also understanding the true benefits and power that movement has not just on the body but for the mindset as well. Having been through many challenges myself since childhood I found the only way I made it through each period of adversity was some form of movement that allowed me to stay focused and remind me of how strong I am. It gave me a sense of control when everything around me was spinning. During these periods of adversities I was mostly on my own having not found the right people at the time to support me the way I needed to and it was tough. Now having gone through those experiences I want to support others who may be feeling and going through similar challenges, reassuring them that they also have the strength and power to overcome them but also that they are not alone. Exercise and movement can teach us lots of valuable skills about ourselves that are transferable to the real world to. WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES? – I live at home with my two children, Ashleigh (8) and James (6) who keep me very busy and on my toes. I enjoy doing my own home workouts that include Yoga Burn and HIIT workouts as well as long walks in the forest or along the canal. Another hobby of mine is being creative and coming up with fun exciting activities to do with the children as well as helping Charities with their events. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE? – Oh wow, I have so many favourite films not sure if I could choose one, I loved the Hobbit films as they portray so much valuable morals and insights such as core values, remaining true to yourself, being kind to others etc the suspense and action in the films always kept me glued to the screen and the music for the film was also amazing. I like movies that I can analyse the plot to find hidden meanings too. I also love the Lion King which is my all time favourite Disney film, but then who doesn’t like a Disney film right? WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL? – homemade Lamb Biryani WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE UK HOLIDAY DESTINATION? - A lodge or log cabin in the forest somewhere with a log fire or wood burner and a hot tub. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION ABROAD? – Italy, Lake Garda, love the lifestyle and relaxed atmosphere as well as the yummy Mediterranean food. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TV PROGRAMME? – Again too many to choose but here are a few of my favourites, Dinner ladies, Grand Designs, Location, Location, Big Bang Theory, Friends, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, as you can see I have a varied interest in things. YOUR FAVOURITE SONG? – I don’t really have a favourite song I enjoy most tracks and songs that have a good upbeat feel to them. WHAT DO YOU MOST ENJOY ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS? – Meeting people and helping others succeed with their goals and being able to work my business around my children. IF YOU HAD A MAGIC WAND WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS? Nothing at the moment as my business is still fairly new and I am currently enjoying the journey in building it up, but if I could change one thing to help me it would be to have a few more clients. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS TIME? Hopefully, still doing this business with the same level of passion and energy I have for it now, being able to reduce my hours at the NHS (currently working 3 days a week) and be able to be at home more with the children, but also and probably a big dream would be to see myself with my own permanent unit rather than keep using community centres to hold my classes. DO YOU HAVE ANY USEFUL TIPS OR IDEAS THAT YOU COULD SHARE WITH THE OTHER CAP MEMBERS? – The only tip or advice I would give to other members is to never give up on your dream, keep going, keep growing and get out there and meet as many people as you can and build relationships with others. HOW HAS CAP BUSINESS CLUBS HELPED YOU IN YOUR BUSINESS? – I have been a part of the CAP community now for around 3 years and have found the club extremely friendly and supportive and have enjoy the weekly Zoom Calls which I look forward to every week. I have some very strong connections and friendships since becoming a member |
