1 - HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN YOUR CURRENT BUSINESS? Around 10 years
2 - WHAT WAS GREAT ABOUT LAST YEAR FOR YOUR BUSINESS? Last year proved to be very rewarding and caused a complete rethink of direction. Due in no small part to the relationships I have built through CAP I am now as busy if not busier than I have been in terms of new projects.
3 - WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE COMING YEAR? – Each year I set a business outcome to achieve. As I no longer work to live these targets are usually reward based – Last year it was double glaze the house. This years target is a step up due to circumstances shifting in terms of new business opportunities but will remain in my head.
4 - WHAT IS THE BEST THING YOU HAVE DONE IN YOUR BUSINESS THAT YOU CONTINUE TO DO? The best thing that has happened to me not only in business but in life is to at the age of 50 return to education. My role as a lecturer at City- University of London reignited my enthusiasm for learning and for passing that learning together with my experience onto others. Now I thirst for new knowledge and this in business terms has helped me build my very niche business.
5 - WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTE FOR A BUSINESS TO HAVE? – that’s easy an audience – you can have the best idea in the world but if no one will buy it ,it’s just an idea.
6 - WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE? Probably still being here doing what I do after 10 years.
7 - WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN THAT WOULD HELP YOUR BUSINESS? I am a lifelong learner but a committed technophobe. I really should learn more about this area but I never seem to do it.
8 - WHAT MISTAKES HAVE YOU MADE, OTHERS COULD LEARN FROM? Not listening to that little voice in my head. Coming from a background in law enforcement I was very cynical. I made a conscious decision to take people more at face value ignoring my not inconsiderable “bullshit” antenna. This has in business terms caused me in my early days make some bad decisions which now help me teach others not to follow suit.
9 - WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS CONTACT WOULD HELP YOUR BUSINESS? My speciality is business communication and conversational agility so if you value your relationships and want to have more productive interactions, we should talk
10 - CAN YOU RECOMMEND ANY MOTIVATIONAL BOOKS THAT HAVE HELPED YOU? The art of war Sun Tzu and Amy Cuddy Presence.
11 - WHAT WOULD BE YOUR NO1 WISH IF YOU HAD A GENIE? – know next Fridays Euro million’s numbers.
12 - WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BEST CAP BUSINESS CLUBS EXPERIENCE TO DATE? – there have been many but the top would be helping and seeing someone bloom, I will say no more.
“Bob delivered 4 modules on Effective Sales Conversations, it was a fantastic and insightful development programme for Volvo Trucks. The course has helped me adopt, adapt and improve my sales techniques and the way I interact with people around me. Using proven methods and now understanding the cause and effect of different techniques of managing and effectively communicating. I feel far better equipped in my consultative sales role”. - Peter Rushmer -Business development Manager Volvo Trucks UK
“Establishing a relationship with Bob was one of the most progressive business ventures I have enjoyed. He is a direct person, and always open to discuss matters to ensure business runs well.I have worked with numerous trainers globally and I can say his expertise, presentation and concepts have added value to our trainings. I hope we continue teaming up to grow in business in the long term”. - Suresh K. Nadiu Conference producer Kuala Lumpur
“Bob is dynamic confident and yet warm and relaxed personality - you get a sense "he's been there, done that" when it comes to difficult situations and complex interpersonal dynamics. I would recommend him as a Performance Coach in any capacity. For me it was about how to function optimally and within my personality and natural constitution, and he was able to tap into that right away. I found the work we did together invaluable”. - Kelle Link Principle user experience designer Verizon Telematics
“Its rare that you come across passionate and skilled trainers like Bob. I approached Bob as the Executive Director of Albanian Institute of Internal Auditors to help us to deliver trainings on fraud related subjects. I am very picky when it comes to selecting the trainers for the training organized by my organization; therefore I was very skeptical about the creative training subjects that Bob suggested when I approached him. After all, why do we need to be inventive and creative to treat a serious subject as fraud? I am glad that Bob proved me wrong. His pragmatic yet innovative approach was very successful and well received by the training participants. He is experienced, resourceful, flexible, a course developer, a facilitator, a lecturer. We just need him (and the training participants) for a successful training. This is why Bob comes with my heartfelt recommendation”. - Stavri Pashko Risk and Compliance Manager Telio Stokeholm
“Bob's experience, enthusiasm and extensive knowledge make him an excellent trainer in the area of investigation, fraud and economic crime. I have worked with Bob in a number of capacities and have always found him to be extremely professional and well-prepared. I would have no hestitation in recommending him as a trainer, consultant or investigator”.
- Dr Sue Palmer -Conn Charter Psychologist Senior Lecturer John Moore’s University
“ have worked with Bob on many occasions both within the UK and in a number of counties in the EU and I have always been impressed with his knowledge and skill in interviewing, intelligence and investigation.
Furthermore Bob has successfully combined this rare skill set with the ability to teach these skills to others and at the appropriate level. Bob also displays a flair for academic with his groundbreaking work into areas such as ‘concepts of reality’ and the risks posed by ‘closed communities.’By combining ‘hard’ technical skills with ‘soft’ human skills Bob never fails to ‘lift the lid’ on a profession that too often remains in the shadows.
Suffice to say I would not hesitate to recommend Bob for any role that he applies himself to”. - Stewart K Bertram Director of Threat Intelligence and Professional Services at Digital Shadow
“Bob offered to give me an insight into conversation management via Skype training sessions. I am very grateful for this opportunity and find that the knowledge I gained helps me to understand the vast field of investigative interviewing better. Not only that, I also find that this applies to dealing with different situations/people in general. Bob has a wealth of knowledge and experience and is very motivated in sharing this, which I find inspirational. His teaching delivery is first class and all worked well on Skype”. - Heidi Kuivert -Smith Forensic Artist.
"I would like to thank Bob for all the support & guidance he has given me all these years. He is one of the best trainers whom I have known thus far who is both professional and understanding. He never fails to amaze me every time when he does a role-play or interviewing a participant during a training/seminar. Thank you for all the hard work you had put in for my past events". - Elsie Lek Business development manager REL Alliance Singapore.
