Joanne Cooper Caps business club chaired by Paul James offers endless opportunities for growth, be it personal or business, I find the interaction of the two complement each other, as the saying goes "it~s not what you know, but who". I love the idea of give to receive, as we all have something unique to offer and if any member is in need of help its sourced through all 3 group meetings. I'm already quids in as earlier this year I took part ,with other members of the group,in a maths course and got paid £800 receiving a recognise qualification for my efforts.[old maths teacher take note] I can do it.I no longer say cant do the maths[a limiting belief ] I no longer own. [note therapy to self] There are no bully boy tactics here, no pressure to do presentations or write a blog [although I'm work in progress on both], all in good time, my time. I've found lovely people who seem to show up at the right time,to help me with my ever changing business ideas. I'm so glad I decided to join, its inspiring ,uplifting ,educational, but most of all we all have FUN. Thank you one and ALL with gratitude
Jackie Beard - Jessabel Flowers I have been a member of CAP since it started up and I have made some good friends who own trustworthy business's. Have also received some good advice, learnt a lot about social media and for me it works. I look forward to the Monday meeting, it's a good way to focus you at the start of the week.
Tina Fennel - Tina Fennell Designs Fantastic club!Great mix of people with a wealth of knowlage, all helping each other. The talks we have from guest speakers are very informative and fun.
Michael Jones - PI Digital Signage “As new to business and a young age I have found CAP business Club as helpful in many ways, from the most basic to the more important things. With all the different business within the club and all with their own skills they are all happy to help where they can. I would recommend the club to any business. I just want to thank all the people that help me so far to get started.”
Charles Scott I’m not a great fan of business groups and networking meetings in general. They are just things that one feels that one has to endure in order to promote one’s business. Hence, when I accepted the invitation to go along to the CAP Thursday club shortly after moving into the area last February, it was with at best an open mind. What a breath of fresh air the club proved to be. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and other members made me feel at home straight away. Over the following months, I found that people were keen to help wherever they could. Doors were opened and opportunities presented that may never have materialised without CAP membership. I have no hesitation in recommending other businesses to CAP. The membership fee could hardly be more modest and you can come free as a guest before making a decision. There is no pressure regarding either membership or ‘performance’ as is the case with some organisations such as BNI. If you have a business in the Forest or are in the process of starting one, this is the forum for you.
Rob Sargent - RS Windscreen Repairs I joined the Cap Club to further my business with in the local area and to meet and make new friends. All the club members are very friendly with a wealth of knowledge in business. There is great support and loads of expertise with in the membership, who are always willing to give hints and tips to any problems you might have. It's good to know great businesses who you can rely on if you require their services, an invaluable reason for being a member of such a great club. I have made some wonderful friends, got to know some great companies and highly recommend any one to join. Paul chairs the meeting which is very friendly and relaxed with expertise and professionalism and ensures that every one ends their day the best way...... the CAP Club way!
Louisa Dwyer - Return to Slpendour Having attended the first ever Tuesday evening CAP Club meeting I have been a member ever since. For me the weekly meetings provide a blend of good practical business advice, team camaraderie and lots of support and friendship. I would thoroughly recommend CAP to anyone looking for a local business networking group. I look forward to Tuesday evenings and am pleased to be able to testify that CAP certainly is the best way to end your working day!
Chris Adams - AD Fitness "I would highly recommend CAP Business Club to other small business. As a new small business myself, I am aware that it is far too easy to get caught working "in" your business and not spending enough time working "on" your business. By having that weekly chat with like minded people it's great to step back, meet connections, discuss ideas and - being a Monday morning - charge up the enthusiasm bank for the week ahead. I have been to CAP for two weeks and it has already enhanced my business. Thank you to Paul James and all the CAP members."
Cerys Watts - The Office Philosopher This is one of the friendliest networking groups I’ve attended. The group is extremely supportive and willing to share advice and expertise. Not only is it the best way to start your working week but it’s also a fun, relaxed way to form businesses relationships.
Sharifah Rahman Being self-employed is a complete new to me so I need the support and encouragement from like minded entrepreneurs. I applied to be an apprentice at CAP business club and have been accepted recently and I can't thank you enough for that. Paul and CAP members are very supportive and friendly. Lots of information, tips and advice I get from everybody which I really need to keep moving forward. I have made some good friends a long the way too. A huge thank you for your warm welcome and constant support.
Susan Pearson - Betatelecoms Beta Telecoms joined CAP in late 2012 we are now receiving business either from or via members of the group and this is proving to be one of the better networking groups that we attend. We have also been able to use the services of several members of the group either for ourselves or for members of our families. The group is vibrant and everyone is very willing to give hints and tips to other members on how to deal with challenges within business their business. During the course of the year we have had some excellent speakers on a variety of subjects from business themes to a local charity looking for assistance from the local business community. Beta Telecoms belongs to the Monday group and it is certainly a good way to start the week.
Sam Taylor - Aspire Together Being my first networking experience, I was not entirely sure what to expect from CAP and nervous was an understatement. I was so relieved though that the group are all so welcoming and friendly and I do now feel right at home as I'm sure that any new member will. I have found the group to be incredibly supportive of one another's businesses and all members do the best to help one another regarding referrals and leads. I would definitely recommend CAP to anyone as I have now grown to love Mondays!
Sarah Trenchard - Fellows Framing For several years I have wanted run a picture framing business and whilst on a business start up course last Autumn CAP was recommended to me for networking and support. I have not been disappointed. I can promote my business in the leads and testimonial part of the meeting and I learn of other local reputable services and products that I can use and recommend (this is particularly useful for me having moved into the area only a few years ago). The CAP website and blog page is full of information about the members and their service/product and is steadily increasing in its appearance in search engine results. The group has been invaluable with advice, leads and support, even devoting a brainstorming session to help my business. All this comes with friendliness and courtesy, no query is to small or irrelevant. Thanks to all the members for making me feel so welcome.
Laura Liddell - Flaxen Hare Cap Business Club has made all the difference to my start up business. Every week a room full of knowledge from a vast range of businesses and professional people. Full of support, shared experiences and everyone encouraging and wanting success for all. An atmosphere that motivates and drives one forward. Where else can you find this on a weekly basis? The best thing I did to drive my new business to the starting line. Thank you to all Cap members
Charlotte Poole-Graham - Wealth Manager I always leave the CAPS networking meetings in a positive mindset. Led by Paul’s example the group is extremely warm and welcoming. There is a genuine feeling of teamwork and camaraderie from which everyone benefits. The group helps both to generate new business and also share and brainstorm ideas on how to run your business better and more efficiently. It also provides me with a pool of people that I know and trust whose expertise I can use as and when necessary from legal and accountancy advice to tradesmen and women and everything in between.
David Broadbent - David Broadbent Photography As a new member of the club, I found myself in need of a trade service and so looked to the member list where I found, in AB Satellite & Aerial, a great, and very quick, solution to my problem. It couldn't have been easier. I found some speedy help in the knowledge that as a CAP member they would provide a great service. Andrew Brown did just that and it felt good to have trusted friends within the CAP business network to whom I could turn for assistance.
Sousa Hari - The Habit Breaker The CAP networking meetings have been very important to me, as a sole trader and relative new-comer to the Forest. There is a fabulous vibe and a very friendly, open and supportive atmosphere at every meeting with interesting and informative presentations. It's a 'Must Go To' weekly event which local businesses can't afford to miss.
Karen Gane - Advantage Gane The club for me is a life line since setting up on a self employed basis. The highlight for me is the support and the social aspect of the group. It can be quite isolating being self employed and the group provides a sounding board, encouragement, ideas and more importantly a sense of belonging. The fact that we have fun too is a bonus. The club allows you to build up quality working relationship because you are seeing the same people every week and nurturing a rapport with them, and from that come quality referrals and business for and from people you trust.
Andy Howley - The Graphics Shack "Setting up your own business can be a very daunting experience. Joining CAP Business Clubs and meeting fellow like-minded people put me at ease, helped my confidence and provided me with some very useful advice. I have also made some very good friends along the way"
Andrew Long - Cass Stephens I joined this local group after spending a number of years on the networking circuit, and found that it complements my existing activities perfectly. With a superb mix of budding entrepreneurs and established businesses in the Club, I have found the whole experience enriching, enjoyable, energising and at times exciting. Paul has a very personable nature and ensures that everyone is included and involved in the running of this very successful club, which is an asset that the Forest should be justly proud of.
Melissa Folly - Shires Chiropractic Clinic CAP has been a fantastic way make some valuable contacts in a wide variety of business! A great way to start the day and working week. Networking is invaluable in business and the connections that are made can help to support and grow your business. Everyone is very welcoming at CAP and there’s no pressure. If you listen, learn and contribute you will always take something away from every meeting!
Grantley Rogers - 3p Enterprise Ltd Running a business single handed is great fun but can sometimes be a difficult without having others off which to bounce ideas. CAP provides me with a friendly and sociable forum to meet with other like minded business people, share ideas and learn together. The people I have met at the club and the information I have gained have given me the incentive to change and improve the way we do things in our business. From printing to social media to insurance, help received from members of the club has been invaluable.
Jo Davies - Forest Traders CAP Business Club is the first networking group we have joined and it has been an invaluable source for not only contacts and Business but for inspiration and idea's that we wouldn't have thought of too. Everyone in the group is so friendly and approachable and there is a genuine sense of unity and helpfulness for each other. It is a fantastic start to the week and we are very pleased to be part of it.
Lucy Shaw - Garden Design I have been working for myself for ten years now and perhaps have become very set in my ways in terms of how I run my business. Joining CAP Business Club has given me a much needed ‘kick up the bum! We have some very interesting speakers so I am picking up useful tips on how to re-invent myself and improve my business. Within the first month of joining, I had gained over £1000 of business! I’m quite a shy person so find the whole ‘networking ’ thing rather daunting whereas at CAP, the group is very friendly and supportive so my confidence is growing! Although there is a set formula we work to each week, it’s not at all stuffy and the odd joke from Mick Merrick makes us all groan with laughter! It’s an excellent way to start the week!
Mark Tomlinson - WPA “It’s termed as ‘the best way to start your working week’ and Monday’s CAP Business Club certainly lives up to such high billing. The meetings are timed just right at an hour long, and the mix of members is excellent – with all of them, without exception, being welcoming and supportive to longstanding and new members alike. I've been a member for about a year now and have found the group to be a terrific source of business, suppliers, referrals/introductions – and friendship. And all is delivered in excellent humour, almost effortlessly by Paul, with the absence of breakfast keeping the cost very, very reasonable. If you’re still in any doubt, just come along and have a visit.”
Sharon Whitehead - Arden Estate Agents CAP Business Club - not only is the club full of interesting Business people, I feel that we are all friends too. It's great to meet up every week to hear the progress of every members business and to share their success. The club is very professional with a relaxed atmosphere & I enjoy attending every week.
Andrea Hope - Travel Counsellor I have recently joined CAP Thursday Business Club and am really glad I did! Meetings are convivial, informative and interesting, thanks to such a great mix of personalities and professions - and perfect for getting to know local people if you are new to the area. A huge ‘thank you’ for your warm welcome, support, and business leads.
Sarah Jones - The Chocolate Strawberry I have been part of the CAP Business clubs Thursday meeting for some time now and each week I am amazed how much help and encouragement is offered by the group. It has been a huge boost to morale on the difficult days, but has also offered money saving opportunities and priceless advice based on real experience. As a result of last week's meeting I went home and immediately confirmed £200 worth of new business which I was in danger of losing by procrastination. I also took up insurance cover which offered me complete cover, probably for the first time since the business began. Insurance advice within the group made me much more aware of the cover I needed, rather than simply choosing the cheapest policy. I would thoroughly recommend joining to anyone in any business locally, regardless of the size of the company.
Alison Ball - Lemon Photographic This is one of the best business-networking clubs that I have the pleasure of attending. It is friendly, supportive and most importantly attended by local like-minded business professionals. Not only do we share and support each other with business leads, but share and support each other in business needs. It truly is ‘The best way to start your working day’
Ian Whitburn - Getters Consultancy "Cap business club is a great way to meet and engage with local business owners, only by getting to know each other do you realise what you can do together. Not only do you find potential customers but you can also find collaboration opportunities, expert advice and great local suppliers of products and services. Cap business clubs are great way to help grow the local economy while growing your own business" Kris Ventris-Field – KVFetc “ CAP provides an accessible, fun and very proactive opportunity for networking and moving your business forward. Members make an effort to support and promote each others’ businesses, but also support the individual. We take the business side very seriously, but have a laugh too and the hour just whizzes by. I really feel I’m missing out on the weeks I can’t get there”.
Eric Witheridge - Module IT CAP business club has resulted in excellent business for Module IT. In addition it provides us with a friendly place to discuss business issues with local companies. Keep up the excellent work Paul.
Caroline Jones – Fashion Revived “As a new business in the Forest of Dean and a complete newbie to the business world, I find CAP club to be a very useful, informative and friendly place to start my week. I was invited to join the club through the Dean Entrepreneurs course I completed this year and am very grateful and honoured to have been given the opportunity to join this group of Forest business people. Attending meetings has given me an insight into how businesses can be run successfully and has also brought me some work and importantly contacts who both want to use my services and are happy to endorse my work. All in all the club provides a valuable part of my business life.”
Karin Whitaker - Karosa Jewellery "When I first joined the Thursday CAP group I was warmly welcomed and felt immediately 'in the right place'. the atmosphere here is encouraging, supportive and very friendly. Although I am only in my second month, I am already making business contacts, and it feels as if I have been a member for years! Great job, Paul and this new expansion of the venture can only improve it!"
Jackie Beard – Jesabel Flowers CAP is a good friendly club where every member is treated fairly, you are encouraged to think outside the box in order to grow your business. I have made some good contacts.
Rebecca Cox – Rebecca Cox Photography I’m a member of CAP Networking and I’m finding it very helpful. I have already received several leads. It is a very friendly group and you are made to feel most welcome.
Martin Firman – The Bestof Forest of Dean I have learn’t over the years that any opportunity to spend time with good decent business people should be cherished and that is exactly what you have at CAP. An enthusiastic group of caring business owners who can offer you so much in terms of support and business leads.
Michael Goody - ColourSells I still can’t get used to 8.00 am on a Monday – but it really is worth it. CAP Networking is a really great start to the week. I have already recouped my membership fees through new business that I have gained via the group. A great bunch of local businesses.
Dee Screen - DeeZynes CAP is a very productive group of very positive business owners. Paul chairs the meetings to flow to our requirements, he invites the most inspirational speakers and keeps the membership to a realistic number. I have visited other groups that have grown so large the personal contacts get very few. The room is always clean and warm, members really do work for one another – Deezynes Embroidery & Printing has certainly benefited from this new group and would recommend anyone to add their business to the waiting list – it will be well worth it!
Jessie Paterson - Time for Excellence ‘What a great way to start the New Year! On Monday 7th January I attended the first CAP meeting of the year and it was such a pleasure back. Miranda Jenkins kicked us off with a with a very clear and powerful message on the ‘softer’ side of sales, Selling with TLC, which certainly helped me to see sales in terms of relationships and their journey rather than a cold or warm close!! On a personal note, by the time I left I had taken up Rebecca Cox’s offer a 12 month retainer, I had been given the name of someone who I could speak to and PGL and I had been given the name of AJ Boilers by Clare Ham (CAP) who came out that very afternoon and mended by broken boiler! Really, what a start! And this is from an introvert who didn’t really like or see the value of networking!A BIG THANK YOU all round and looking forward to seeing you all next Monday! Is Monday the new Friday?!’
Ian Spencer – Clear Web Services Having been a part of a few business clubs since starting Clear Web Services, it can be quite apparent when a group really works and when it doesn’t. Clear Web Services were invited to be part of the net CAP Business Club, which is much more affordable than others and seems to have a much better balance and number of members, which helps to make the group really dynamic, enjoyable and above all, rewarding. Since joining the club, we have already picked up business, and at the same time have met a lot of new and interesting businesses that we would probably not have met outside of the club. Paul runs the club excellently, lets the meetings flow and invites key presentations that are not only informative but are also relevant to us as a business. The members make the club, but the organisation and location could not be better and I would thoroughly recommend anyone looking to join a business club and attract new business to give the CAP Business Club a go.
